Approved document F requires that all extract fans are checked when installed. If the ventilation system does not meet the required targets our engineers know what the likely issues are and will be able to advise you on how to improve the installed systems. This may be simply adjusting duct-work.
With years of experience in testing and commissioning extract and supply ventilation, we are able to provide swift site attendance and if required same day certification of the extract system.
If a design is available we will always work to this otherwise we will check that the ventilation system meets the requirements set out in Approved Document F.
Crowther Solutions Ltd use BPEC or NICEIC ventilation testers to undertake testing to Approved Document F (ADF) requirements. Completion certificates results will be issued.
This service is includes the following:
Testing extract fans against ADF minimum flow rate requirements.
Test results are used for compliance with ADF and should be provided to your Building Control officer.
Commissioning against the provided design criteria and flow rates. If this is not available then we will commission the system against ADF requirements.
Balancing the individual room terminals to set the flow rates in each room to those indicated in the system design.
Setting of any system controls.
The results are used for compliance with ADF and should be provided to your Building Control officer.
Safe access to all extractor fans, MEV, MVHR units and terminals.
Suitable space around extract fans/terminals to fit our test equipment.
All the fans run and ductwork is connected and free from restrictions.
Uninterrupted access to all properties on the day of the test.
Presence of someone familiar with the ventilation systems and their controls.
Should any of the ventilation systems be controlled via a BMS (or similar system) then we will require the presence on site of someone able to access and make changes to the settings.
Through our experience in commissioning all varieties of domestic ventilation systems, we are also able to provide design guidance for different ventilation systems such as;
Trickle ventilators are required in Approved Document F to help provide background ventilation in your home. We are able to provide background ventilation calculations showing the total equivalent area you require and over mark drawings with suggested locations. We also provide background ventilation calculations as part of our MEV and MVHR design work.
